How to convert microarray probes to gene IDs?

Here are some examples of how to obtain the microarray probe to genome mapping data:

  1. Export microarray probe to gene mappings by using Search
    • using VectorBase search select the "Expression" domain.
    • Select the "Probe" subdomain.
    • You will be presented with a list of platforms and the probe count for each platform. Select the appropriate probe microarray form the list and you will be presented with a list of all the probes on the array.
    • To export this list click on the "Export" button. This will produce a CSV file that can be imported into a number of spreadsheet programs, e.g., Excel.
N.B. If you are a registered VectorBase user you can download the complete results of any query. Non-regisitered users, or users who are not logged in are restricted to 5,000 entries.
  2. Download the genes from the array A-MEXP-862

    • Construct a query with Search filters, no keywords needed. Click here for the query results. Notice also how the link to Search is available in the array page (shown in the image) above. Export to CSV.

  3. Convert a list of probes from Affymetrix Plasmodium Anopheles chip to AGAP* gene IDs
    • If you only have a few probes, use them as keywords in Search. Click here for an example and filter with Expression (Domain) > Probe (Sub-domain) > Anopheles gambiae (Species)
    • In Search use as keywords the name or description of the array and download the probes via Export. Click here for an example and filter as appropriate.
